The concept of my art evokes to a geometry based figurative representation of reality. Growing up in Peru, I have always admired the synchronicity of ancient Inca temples, the symmetry, the precision, and the alignments of these structures with natural events. My painting style incorporates these elements. I use mathematical principles to depict the world as an interconnected system, where each element plays a role in each composition. I emphasize the use of numbers and geometry as mechanisms to achieve this interconnectedness. My art pieces result in the creation of repetitive patterns connected through geometrical shapes, presenting a new reality with structural forms and curvilinear shapes interacting together.
I have been developing this concept for a few years by exploring the connection between symmetrical forms found in nature and the free will to interact with it. My creative process follows this methodology, where I paint geometrical patterns followed by free hand painting, and then going back to paint geometrical patterns. I continue this process until I found a balance between these two forms of expression. In this methodology, the structure sequence represents the natural order that exists in nature, and provides me with precision to dive into a rational thinking process. On the other hand, the freedom symbolizes the spontaneous creation of life, and this allows me to express my art freely with no limits.
By developing this concept, I am constantly exploring different blending techniques, experimenting different combinations of geometrical shapes, and ways to use and mix colours. The inspiration of my painting style strongly relies on Inca architecture and nature itself, specifically in their creativity and synchronicity. As I continue admiring what the Incas were able to create in connection to the natural world, I am continually learning and growing as an artist, observing and discovering further connections which provides me with limitless source of inspiration.
The paintings in the exhibition represent structures and life forms harmoniously connected by piano figures, musical symbols and geometrical patterns. The musical component incorporates rhythm as a property of a succession of events interplaying with life forms and its beginnings. The creation of each composition starts with the mathematical sequence of Fibonacci, where each number of the sequence is the addition of the two preceding ones. The geometrical representation of this sequence is depicted as a spiral. The composition of each painting shows the connection of the patterns found in the Fibonacci spiral, musical rhythm and life forms, ultimately representing the connection of art, music, and life.
