In Earthbound, Madeleine Greenway and Amy Snider show very different works produced from the same piece of earth. Greenway’s garden in North Central Regina is the origin of this earth. The two engage with this site to convey a shared concern for the state of the environment through their differing vantage-points. Whereas Greenway’s drawings and prints celebrate the bounty of life that grows from her garden’s soil, Snider’s pieces engage the clay beneath it to convey the grief and anxiety that come with an understanding of the precarity of our survival on this planet.

Both Snider and Greenway feel the sadness and worry that comes along with caring for our world. Although they are separated by their chosen mediums and methods, they are bound by friendship and the desire to care for land and each other.
